The Advanced X-ray mod is not a standard x-ray mod that many of you might be used to. Unlike other x-ray mods, it won’t just make all or most of the blocks around you visually disappear and ultimately make it difficult to function as you normally would when you could see the blocks in front of you. Instead the Advanced X-ray mod will simply highlight any of the desired blocks around the world you are in based on a set block distance. So you can select only the blocks you want to see hidden below or around you and still see the rest of the world normally. This essentially highlights the areas you want to dig towards and now you can easily see how far each pocket is as well as how dense they are. You could be spending significantly more time blindly mining the wrong direction from where a much bigger vein of ores might actually be. Sure this is considered more of a cheat to many players, but if you just want to have fun playing the game your own way, then you should be able to do that with a much better functioning and visually pleasing x-ray mod like this one is.
With this mod there is a specific menu that you can call up using a keybind that you can set to whatever you like. Press the keybind and you can bring up the x-ray menu to add or omit the blocks you want to see or avoid. So you will be given a list of every block you will likely find by mining and you can even add your own custom filter for any other block you want by clicking the “Add Ore” button at the bottom. Then you simply toggle the x-ray option on or off to set the filter for only the blocks you want to see. The default distance that will be as far as you can only see these blocks is an 8 block radius. You can increase or decrease the distance by clicking that button but once you get too high of a distance then you might experience some significant lagging and you may even crash your game. This is because you will be increasing the area that the mod has to load to show you all the whitelisted blocks and rendering too many at one time takes up a lot of processing power. So it would be just fine to play around with the distance to find what works best for you and how far your setup will be able to let you see smoothly.
This is a great tool to be able to locate the blocks you want without inhibiting the world around you. It’s also a fantastic way to find dungeons, caves, or mine-shafts. Since you can customize any block you want to add to filter list, all you need to do is add blocks that you would mostly or only find in those areas you want to see. Simply put items like chests or mossy bricks as the only visible options and you’ll likely find these areas much more easily.
Be careful using this mod in any servers since many see it as a form of cheating and you may be banned but for personal or agreed upon usage, it’s really a great improvement on the standard x-ray mod. It’s a clean looking mod that has a decent amount of customization and can work for many specific scenarios that wouldn’t fall under a cheating description. So have fun and see more of your world the way you want to!

Will this be in 1.12.2 soon? Nice mod by the way. 🙂
I’ve just updated the link!
Is it possible to modify this mod so it shows modded ores?
Yes, just click add block and search the desired modified ore
is there a way to turn off the xray during the game?
Yep. Just tap the same key you turned it on with.
you need to go to options then you click controls and scroll down then look for “toggle xray” and choose the button you would want to use
i cant see it though. Might there be something wrong?
Is it possible to find blocks with certain data values? Galacticraft has like 4 ores, but they operate under the same block ID, just 4 different data values.
Could you make it so we can see certain entities too?
This is the best mod ever. The diamond search in vanilla is way too tedious. My least fav part of the game. This makes it easier without making it too easy. Perfect. Thanks!
Um, how do you open the menu to select and deselect ores?
how do i put on the x-ray?
How to open x-ray??
